You’ve likely had to deal with ringworm before, and you know it can turn from a small spot on one calf to a full-blown barn problem fast. But don’t panic — with the right products and a solid plan, you can stop it from spreading.
Here’s what to look for, what to do, and how Stock Up Supply can help you stay ahead this ringworm season.

How to Spot It Early
Keep an eye out for:
-Circular, crusty patches with missing hair
-Dry or flaky skin around the eyes, neck, or face
-Animals rubbing against panels or gates
Early detection = easier treatment.
The sooner you act, the better chance you have of controlling it from spreading throughout your whole barn.
It’s Highly Contagious
Animal-to-animal and animal-to-human, and it can even spread through shared brushes, halters, and show equipment.
What to Do When You See It
Ringworm is annoying, but we don’t worry too much about cattle getting it. Likely, once they have had it they wont get it again. We just want to keep it from getting out of control. Here’s the step-by-step protocol we recommend (and what we personally use):
Use a product like Dr. Habs Ring Worm Ointment to kill the fungus and help heal the skin.

Clean everything – Halters, brushes & combs, clipper blades — yep, all of it. We use Ring Out to kill fungi, bacteria and virus’s.

Then come back with a medicated shampoo that has natural antiseptic properties to prevent and relieve irritation. They also help to hydrate the hide.
